Get close to wildlife and walk among free-flying butterflies in Butterfly Pavilion, observe live animals in Creature Cavern, buzz by Insect Alley or just hang out in Our Big Backyard. Or step outside and walk the Paw Paw Nature Trail in the 100-year-old forest.
Bring little ones for just an hour or the whole day and experience wildlife through live animal exhibits and interactive education programs.
The Museum is easy to navigate with fun surprises around every corner. Kids can roam The Great Hall and visit Beginnings, an area filled with young animals and information on their lifecycles.
Everyone will enjoy the beautiful creatures who call Creature Cavern home, including a Barred owl and resident groundhog Queen Charlotte. This is a wonderful exhibit to gain a greater understanding of the unique animals in the Piedmont area and their importance to our environment. Junior explorers can put on an apron and splash in the water table stream in Our Big Backyard.
Dynamic programming encourages a love of nature and local wildlife; join Grandpa Tree and his forest friends as they tell stories by the “nighttime campfire”, or catch a Puppet Show. Plus, don’t miss our monthly Creature Feature events.
With indoor and outdoor exhibits any time of year is a wild time to visit Charlotte Nature Museum.
